The Comfort Heritage Foundation General Meeting will be on Monday, March 10th from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm. In lieu of our regular meeting, we will tour the old Faltin home. This is sure to be a "don't miss" meeting!
Dan and Carla Smalley are the owners of the August F. Faltin home and are hosting an open house of their in-process renovation. Refreshments will be available there. Come and join us….she’s beautiful!
August Friederich Faltin and his wife Clara Below Faltin emigrated to Comfort in 1856 from Danzig, Prussia and they were among Comfort's earliest settlers. August Faltin prospered as a merchant and financier over a long and storied career; in 1894, the Faltin Home was constructed to be his retirement home. We purchased the Faltin Home in 2018 with the goal of restoring her to her original glory but updated for modern living conveniences. Phase 1 of the restoration has been completed consisting of extensive cleanup, demolition, cleaning and re-pointing of historic masonry and framing. Planning for Phase 2 and completion is in process.
